Trip Report:

Angie(as a first time Disney World visitor): Favorites included; Magic Kingdom, Tinkerbell, and lunch at Cinderella's castle. Enjoyed everything very much.

Elizabeth: Great Opportunity for post members to see profesionaly things and be affirmed in what they are doing.("Yes you can make money doing this").

Chris: Enjoyed seeing and touring Full Sail which was a recording school originally; but then advanced into a, recording school, film production, computer animation. One year of very intense learning. NEVER miss class. Highly respected school with very good teachers. It is doing four years in fourteen months, so if you are doing this you should be sure.

Jim: Had most fun at Pleasure Island and going backstage. Pleasure island was remembered as a loud experience.

**Briefing on Jello Shots by Bill.

Bill: Liked going into underground Disney. Where all trash, employees, supplies, costumes come from and go to. A person can get to anywhere in the park from there. Animal Kingdom moved people poorly.

Cailen: Need for more restrooms. His favorite was The Lion King, live, because of the high energy. Enjoyed seeing the technology they had and how they implemented it.

Notes on the trip:

Got to preview Rock n' Rollercoaster; what the park calls a "soft opening".

Fantasmic was the most technological show. Doug came in at a close 2nd.

The people who create the technology are seperate from the people who mantain it. It is a seperate trained crew.

Lots of positions open at all the parks.

Everyone is nice and helpful with only a few exceptions.

Cirque de Soleil was amazing.

The Hulk rollercoaster has improved, now when you start you are shot out by using an electromagnetic current.

Upcoming Projects:

United Arts Festival: At Leesville High School. 80 booths and 2 stages. August 20th in the afternoon and all day on the 21st.

Raleigh Symphony Orchestra: Setting up music, chairs, and other things. $50 per show. Last year we made $1300 and this year we have a potential to earn $1600.

Noble Road: Large selection of props and set peices and anything. Very good possibilities and good resource center but needs to be improved. Shawn will make calls for our help there.

First Night Raleigh: Bill has been offered to be T.D. for it. Will get $5000 towardsd the Post. Big responsibility, reputation. Need for more and better information and analysis. What involvement people will be able to have as well.

Elizabeth and Chris are moving and will pay an honorarium to the Post if we help in the move. Probably the weekend after Labor Day weekend but we will be kept posted.

International Festival in October.

October Meeting is at Angie's. We're going to make jack-o-lanterns.

New Business:

This fall we will be meeting every month due to the schedule we have. Most of the time in Late afternoon/early evenings on Sundays.

Call Reports need to improve.

Expand forces.

More people want to be involved which is good.

Shawn will be a very good contact; to give us feedback on all schools in and around Raleigh.

NEXT MEETING: Saturday, August 28,1999 at 5pm.

Misc.:

The number 512 was chosen because of the number of dimmers that can be controlled by a DMX Line.

Angie, "So aren't we cool!"
